URINE AND SALIVA TESTS

Our testing laboratories exist for the sole purpose of testing oral fluids for the presence of drugs - of all sorts. Court systems as well as private employers utilize our testing laboratories' services due to the availability of its proprietary saliva collection device and utilization of Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry in sample analysis. The collection device does not produce instant results, but is aimed at enabling sample collectors to obtain samples easily for purposes of full lab testing.

The testing laboratories continue to provide testing in this manner today. Our Labs' services were expanded in 2006 to include confirming the results of instant-result drug testing kits and analyzing urine samples for the presence of alcohol metabolites (EtG and EtS).

 

Our labs are possibly the only laboratory in the United States (certainly of those providing toxicology services) with 4 LC/MS/MS machines. Our testing labs’ equipment consists of a Quattro Micro LC; Waters Ultima LC; Waters QTOF LC and an ICP mass spectrometer.  Essentially, our testing labs houses research quality instrumentation, hence their tag line:  Research Quality Laboratory Services for the Drug and Alcohol Testing Industry. Also, our labs are likely the only laboratory in the United States that does not screen prior to using its LC/MS/MS. They do not have the chemicals to screen and they do not own equipment to screen – every sample is tested directly by the LC/MS/MS. Additionally, our labs tests from the instant kit itself and does not require more sample to perform confirmatory testing – this is break-through technology in the drug and alcohol testing industry.

Our testing lab is one of very few laboratories capable of confirming the results of oral fluid instant results kits (from the spent kit itself). In addition to providing this service to its clients, our testing labs began providing this service in conjunction with instant result kit manufacturers and distributors. This service bundling approach is gaining acceptance in the industry and our testing labs are leading the way with testing accuracy, reporting convenience and customer service-centric diagnostic testing services. Our testing laboratories also tests urine samples for drugs and alcohol.

Oral Fluid Confirmation Services
LC/MS/MS confirmation of oral fluid samples provided in the traditional manner (separately provided vial for sample not used in the instant result kit). Now, only available through our testing Laboratory, confirmation of positive results obtained from instant result kits using the sample inside the kit – no extra sample required. This service applies to many of the kits now on the market – please call us 1-888-312-4362 to determine whether the kit you use applies. NO SCREENING. Qualitative and quantitative results included in one price.
 
Urine Confirmation Services – LC/MS/MS confirmation of urine samples provided in the traditional manner (separately provided vial for samples not used in the instant result kit). Now, only available through our testing laboratory, confirmation of positive results obtained from instant result kits using the sample inside the kit – no extra sample required. This service applies to many of the kits now on the market – please call us to determine whether the kit you use applies. Alternatively, our testing laboratories provide inexpensive sample transportation devices to ship confirmatory samples rather than shipping cups of urine. NO SCREENING. Qualitative and quantitative results included in one price.

 

Full Laboratory Testing Services – collect and ship samples for full laboratory testing. Various panels are available for up to 20 or more drugs. LC/MS/MS testing only – urine or oral fluid – NO SCREENING. Qualitative and quantitative results included in one price.

Urine EtG/EtS Alcohol Testing Services – ship samples in our testing labs’ urine cups or yours and receive full LC/MS/MS testing results. Reports include ng/ml quantification leaving you the option of determining “positive” levels. NO SCREENING.

Steroids – LC/MS/MS used to detect steroids and/or metabolites of steroids from urine samples. As with all WSL services, there is no screening and no use of GC/MS. Customized Steroid/Drug panels are available upon request.

Verification of Compounding Accuracy and Sterilization – USP NF Chapter 797 compliance services – LC/MS/MS used to verify accuracy of compounding. Useful for pain management programs as administered by home IV infusion companies.

HOW IS IT DONE DONE?
Our testing lab utilizes Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS/MS) to test all samples – they have a commitment to quality that is virtually unmatched in the drug and alcohol testing industry. Our testing labs also offer turn‐around times that equals or betters those offered by its competitors. The accuracy of the LC/MS/MS is the cornerstone of our testing labs’ services.

GC/MS/MS v. LC/MS/MS:

WHICH IS REALLY THE “GOLD STANDARD”?

1. GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY/MASS SPECTROMETRY
Gas chromatography separates drugs based on how easy they evaporate (volatilize). Unfortunately, drugs of abuse do not volatilize. Samples must first be altered chemically before analysis. Once chemically altered, GC/MS/MS produces what amounts to 100 or more “peaks” in the production of information. Peaks are then compared to a computerized list of compounds with corresponding masses. The resulting comparison measures mass and the mass is then compared with figures on a look‐up table. This is a major area of potential errors in the testing process. Positive results are often reported in cases where the probability of the presence of a particular drug is less 40% or less. Furthermore, GC/MS/MS machines are certified and checked by using a LC/MS/MS.

 

2. LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPHY/MASS SPECTROMETRY
Liquid chromatography separates drugs and introduces them into the mass spectrometer. The sample first passes through a mass filter which only allows the drugs we are testing for to pass through. The drug is then broken apart with the argon gas stream. The fragments of any drug present then pass into a second mass filter and are then measured. No sample pretreatment is necessary, removing one of the problem steps in the GC/MS method. Only when drugs of abuse are present are compounds noted by the instrument. No compound matching is required. This result is 99.9% accurate.  GOLD STANDARD.

 

WHY DO WE CARE?

Our testing labs purpose in the drug and alcohol testing industry is to deliver research quality services with research quality instrumentation to an industry that requires high-level, quality service.  When people’s lives are at stake, only the best of diagnostic services should be used. It is our testing labs’ belief that the historical screen/confirm approach is fraught with error. Our testing lab is a bio medical incubator company with various efforts underway.  Our testing labs are completely dedicated to research and development in many areas including drugs and alcohol, steroids, wellness program diagnostics development, pain management, cancer related technologies and other diseases requiring sophisticated research using LC/MS/MS.  As it applies to extensive research and development efforts, it is our labs’ belief that only LC/MS/MS should be used to confirm or determine drug and alcohol levels.  The use of LC/MS/MS allows our labs to lower the currently-accepted detection limits in the drug and alcohol testing industry. Lower detection limits lead to increased windows of detection – usually. What can be done with a detection limit of .2 ng/ml for THC? Perhaps the industry will know soon.
