Child Safety Meets Twenty-First Century DNA Testing

20th January 2009

It is unfortunate that our society have had come to this, but in an effort to protect our children, we have had to think of twenty-first century ideas to protect them:  enter, child safety DNA testing.  Just what is child-safety DNA testing?  It is the information you can obtain and store from a Child DNA ID Kit prior to a tragic event which can be priceless.  This unique kit allows you to store all of your child’s important identification information in one place for easy access. Collecting your child’s DNA is a simple, painless cheap DNA process.  It is just like a paternity test collection, only there is no father involved; only the child participates.  The DNA Identification Kit consists of the following:

  • DNA collection and storage material
  • Fingerprint ink strip
  • Child identification card
  • Contact card for your emergency phone numbers
  • Dental chart filled out by you or your child’s dentist
  • Chart to detail descriptive identification marks
  • Lists of tips to help keep your child safe

Legal vs. Private vs. Cheap Paternity Test

20th January 2009

Not all cheap paternity tests are created equal.  Everyone wants to pay as little as possible for the most they can get; we all want the most we can get for our buck.  However when it comes to cheap DNA testing, a paternity test that is unbelievably cheap (i.e., under a hundred dollars) may prove to be more expensive to you in the long run. The question you need to ask is: are these tests performed using the industry standard / guidelines for relationship testing? These tests are inadmissible (do not hold up) in court; because they were performed using less than acceptable industry standards; and they are usually self collected.   Why is this?  These tests generally unreliable because the testing may have been done outside industry standards; and they may or may not have been performed by inexperienced staff which could lead to results that are interpreted incorrectly thus leading to false results.  These tests are usually self collected (you or someone you know do the collection) and no chain of custody is established.  If you require a paternity test for any legal matter, additional testing would have to be done, which would involve additional fees.  Isn’t it much better to pay only once for something this important?  So, when you need paternity testing, make sure that cheap is not only cheap, but also performed at acceptable industry standards.
