A Paternity Test Can Reunite Tribes

27th December 2008

When many people think of the paternity test, they automatically think of the division of DNA testing that has to do with determining who the father of a baby is. That’s not all that can be accomplished.  One of the more interesting divisions of this DNA testing has to do with determining a person’s ancestry.

The Native American DNA test is all about test results that are in a tribe’s best interest. Through the best companies like paternityexpress.com, these tests are carried out with an eye to having accurate results and a short turnaround time as well.

The experts at paternityexpress.com are sensitive to the needs of any of the tribes that they work for since it’s apparent that the results could have an effect on the numbers of the members. Although the paternity test is an option with this segment of the population as well, it’s more common for the DNA testing that goes on here to be all about enrolement in the various tribes.

DNA Testing During Pregnancy

20th December 2008

The science of DNA testing has come along way to the point where a paternity test can be carried out during pregnancy. This test does the same job as the paternity test that most of us are more familiar with in that the baby’s DNA is compared with that of the alleged father. This method of testing is just as accurate as the one that is carried out after the child is born since the DNA is set at conception. There are two methods that the OB-GYN will use to obtain the samples needed and they are:

  • chorionic villi sampling or,
  • amniocentesis

One of the determining factors here is stage of the pregnancy. The Villi sampling is generally carried out in the 10th to 13th week and involves cells being collected from the placenta. Amniocentesis is usually carried out in the 14th to 24th week and here loose fetal cells that have been released into the amniotic fluid are collected.

Either of these procedures is an extremely safe way of DNA testing. As well as not being harmful in any way to the child or the mother, these procedures are very accurate.

A Paternity Test Saves People Untold Misery

16th December 2008

At the height of modern science, a paternity test has many social applications designed to save people emotional hardship. The most common of these tests can determine with 99% accuracy the father of a child. Of course one of the more common scenarios involves a man who denies he is the biological father.  In cases of this sort DNA testing is admissible in a court of law and the person in question can be made to live up to their responsibilities.

DNA Samples

Several different methods may be employed, one of the more common involves collecting DNA samples right after a child is born. The most common method to collect DNA samples is a buccal (cheek) swab although blood, hair, or semen samples may also be used. Samples are collected from an alleged father and the child in question; the mother’s participation helps to narrow the DNA field considered.

Paternity Testing

Of course there are other methods available, one that is fast becoming quite common the prenatal test which must be performed by an OB-GYN.  Regardless of the method that is employed, a paternity test is conclusive in determining the father of the child.

As one might expect, this science has branched out and is finding more modern applications as in immigration testing. This new area has found its place with the American Immigration services that now requires most applicants prove biological relationships as part of their petition for entry into the United States.  They require an AABB approved lab within the United States perform the testing.  Samples are routinely collected at embassies or approved clinics around the globe and sent back to a U.S. Lab for testing.

Immigration Testing

The best of these laboratories will generally report findings back to the requesting embassy within only several business days; the results for these   immigration testing procedures are considered to be 99.9% accurate.

Whether you need a paternity test or immigration testing, it is important to select the right laboratory with proper certifications, training and expertise that will provide accurate results and enable families to reunite as well as to let everyone involved know their responsibilities

DNA Testing That Reunites Families

15th December 2008

The purpose behind any paternity test is to settle disputes that have a way of disrupting family life. To that end there are several different variations and one of the more popular deals with immigration testing.  It’s important to understand that people who have immigrated to the United States and other more developed countries would like nothing more than to bring their relatives with them, but embassies all over the world require some kind of DNA testing to ensure that the claims made by people wanting to follow relatives are authentic.

That’s where the science of immigration testing comes in. By taking samples from the applicants during one of these immigration testing procedures, a determination can be made about the family of origin of those who are applying.

It’s important that these tests are carried out by the most highly trained professionals and you’ll find them here at paternityexpress.com. These are the experts that can handle all of your requests for everything from a paternity test to the kind of immigration testing that determines who is allowed to immigrate.

Selecting The Right Paternity Test Facility

15th December 2008

A paternity test is a very important procedure. The results of these tests often affect the makeup a families and the way that responsibilities are handed out in those families. In some cases a paternity test is ordered through court cases while other times the samples taken are used to determine the outcomes of different avenues like immigration testing that are prerequisites to entering the United States and other countries.

Nature of the Tests

General knowledge about these procedures is on the rise, but there are still unfortunately many people who remain ignorant about the nature of these tests. Regardless of whether you’re looking for paternity testing to determine the parentage of a child or immigration testing to determine which family members are allowed in the country, there are several things that you should know that will guide you in your selection of the right facility.

First there’s a need to know what it is that these DNA testing facilities do. Paternity testing is considered the most accurate way of determining the relationship between a mother, a child and any alleged father. Previous tests relied on blood grouping and the results from those were considered inaccurate compared to the 99.9% accuracy that a modern paternity test offers.

DNA Profile

Remember that you need to select the facility carefully as well. The laboratory that you finally choose needs to have credentials and you need to get a detailed answer from any clinic that you choose. Ask that a proper DNA profile be issued and keep in mind that a simple answer as to who the biological father is won’t be acceptable on its own.

It’s also interesting to note that it’s not always necessary to get a sample from the mother for the test to be conclusive, but most reputable places will ask for one to get the best results. The DNA that’s at the center of both  paternity testing and immigration testing issues need samples that can be obtained from a variety of different sources that include:

-  The Body.   Samples that will provide accurate results for a paternity test need to be derived from hair, blood or even semen samples.

-    Things the participants have used. Even common items like a toothbrush or a cigarette butt contain an individual’s DNA makeup.

One of the most important aspects here is that a paternity test or immigration testing is performed under the best conditions. Although samples can be obtained with home test kits, all the results need to come from only the best laboratories.

Immigration Testing Needs A Global Approach

9th December 2008

Although most of us are familiar with a paternity test as it relates to proving the relationship between an alleged father and child, there are many other areas of DNA testing, including but not limited to, immigration testing. More and more the USCIS (United States Immigration Service) is requesting DNA proof of family relationship from people wishing to migrate to the United States.  Because U.S. Embassies are located in most countries globally this procedure is fast becoming a global initiative.

Generally collecting the DNA samples does not present much of a problem as many of the larger, more accomplished DNA testing companies have established long standing relationships with collection centers and laboratories worldwide, and most embassies will even provide a list of approved doctors in their correspondence with a petitioner.  In some cases a USCIS Officer goes to the collection site or doctor’s office to witness and sign off on the sample collection process.  Collected samples are then remitted to an AABB (American Association of Blood Banks) approved laboratory in the United States which then processes those samples and issues a report.  The resulting report must be sent directly back to the requesting Embassy as the embassies will not accept results from a petitioner; although the petitioner is also provided with a copy of the report for their records.  Because timing is of the essence, the entire process from initially sending collection kits to a requesting Embassy to the return of a report is handled by courier service thus expediting the process.

Cheek Swab

A cheek swab (also known as a “buccal” or “buckle” swab) is most commonly used to collect DNA samples.  For immigration cases, sample collection kits are sent to a requesting Embassy for routing to their approved doctors and/or laboratories that do the sample collection.

The term immigration testing and paternity testing or maternity testing is often used interchangeably to mean a paternity, or maternity test, respectively.  DNA (”Deoxyribonucleic Acid”) is the genetic material that a person inherits equally from both parents. It is the chemical blueprint that makes each person unique; identical twins are the universal exception.  DNA tests routinely provide results with an accuracy of greater than 99.99% inclusion and 100% exclusion.

Initially, the DNA testing process was very expensive and time consuming, however, as time elapsed, the paternity testing technology has refined itself and is now more cost effective and stealthily accurate, and because DNA testing is now the most powerful, reliable, method of proving or disproving parentage, it is more commonly used in Paternity and  Immigration paternity cases.
